Overview

This document will guide you through the steps for upgrading your existing SMACS ZPC machine in VMWare to meet our new hardware requirements. 

Note

The steps outlined below are for VMware only, Stack8 ZIRO currently only provides support for VMware. If you are using another VM platform (such as Hyper-V, Hypervisor or Azure VM), please review this guide with your internal VM subject-matter expert before upgrading to SMACS 7.0)

SMACS Requirements

Before upgrading your SMACS ZPC machine to version 7, you will may need to upgrade your VM requirements. The below table displays the requirements for SMACS versions ≤ 6.12.2  and versions ≥  72 and versions ≥ 7.0 to 7.4.2 as well as ZPC version ≥ 8.0 :

For ZPC version 8 and larger, assign at least 120 GB. If you use our Reporting module and are planning to import CDR data from CUCM, add 3GB for each 1M call records on top of the minimum disk space required (120GB) up to 500GB.

To ease the upgrade process, Stack8-OS will handle repartitioning the HDD and adding the new core automatically once they are allocated from your VM host.

Start the machine with the "Power On" button in the bar next to the server name.

VMware vSphere (Native Windows Client)

  1. Log into vSphere with your credentials

  2. Search for the SMACS machine via the sidebar and select it

  3. Click on the “Summary” tab and click on “Shut Down Guest”

  4. Once the VM has been shut down, select “Edit Settings”

  5. Click on “CPUs” and change the value “Number of virtual sockets” from 1 to 2,

  6. Click on “Hard disk 1” and change the value “Provisioned Size” to “120 GB”

  7. Click “OK” and wait until the task is completed (Check "Recent Tasks" tab for more details)

  8. Start the machine with the "Power On" button under “Summary”.
